A hill, a chapel and a knight
What is in the bottle
Dry red wine . Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 2012.
Elaboration area
To know the origin of La Chapelle, we go back on time to 1224 . It is said that the knight Henri-Gaspard of Sterimberg returned from the crusades, settling on the highest hill in the Hermitage area . Over there he built a chapel as a spiritual refuge in his new life as a hermit and surrounded it with vineyards . Thus, it began the legend of Hermitage Hill (the hermit) and the symbol of the hermitage as a divine place of best worldwide Syrah vineyards, considering certain vintages – 1961 or 1978 – the Holy Grail in the world of wine
Hermitage, Northern Rhône Valley . Iconic granite hill where the only red variety allowed is Syrah . This imposing wonder of nature, grabs the sunlight, fights against the mistral wind and gives strength to beautiful vineyards on impossible slopes planted in a mosaic of soils . An area of fairy tails and legends
