Winery hints
Niepoort Vinhos, an independent family wine business since 1942, is one of the NAMES in the Portuguese wine industry . Dutch origin, the first generation had its contact with Portugal through the marketing of Port wines and without any vineyard in the country . Currently it is Dirk Niepoort, fifth generation, who after more than 30 years in the family business took over in 2005. He was the first to acquire vineyards in Portugal, in Cima Corgo, where this Turris comes from and since 2012 first vintage, its icon wine. Decanter has recently included him in its prestigious “Hall of fame” describing him as “a contradictory enigma, but arch collaborator; irreverent, but lover of tradition.”
